3 released Mumbai Indians players who could be in high demand at IPL 2025 mega auction

Since MI have released some big names ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, see which of these players could be in high demand at the auction.

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have retained their core group, which includes Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma, but they also released several big names who could potentially attract many bidders in the IPL 2025 mega auction. MI had a rough previous season, finishing last in IPL 2024 class, and we saw how the team struggled under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. It was speculated that many key players, including Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, might leave, although they ultimately stayed. With the mega auction approaching, several released players could attract strong interest. See the top three quality names from the MI camp with the potential to draw franchise attention in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Ishan Kishan

One player who will be in high demand is Ishan Kishan, as every team needs a quality wicketkeeper-batter. Ishan brings a lot to the table with his high-quality batting in the first six overs and his masterful wicketkeeping skills. He could be one of the costliest players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 26-year-old was bought for INR 15.25 crore in the 2022 mega auction by MI, though his form has been inconsistent since then. Overall, he has played 105 games in the IPL, scoring 2,644 runs at a strike rate of 135.86, showcasing his experience in the league. There is no doubt he could attract a big bid in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Gerald Coetzee

South Africa’s young and lethal bowler, who has been grabbing the attention of cricket lovers since the 2023 World Cup, impressed with his performance for South Africa and showed potential with the bat lower down the order. MI had already utilised his skills by securing Coetzee for ₹5 crore in the 2024 IPL mini-auction. During the 2024 season, Coetzee justified this investment by taking 13 wickets in 10 matches, showcasing his promise. Now that he has been released, we could see a bidding war among teams to acquire this aggressive fast bowler.

Tim David

If we look at any team, it’s clear that every camp needs an all-rounder who can play the role of a finisher and contribute a few overs as a bowler. MI released Singaporean-born Australian cricketer Tim David, who was doing an impressive job as a floater for them. He has played 38 games in the cash-rich league, scoring 659 runs at a strike rate of 170.28, and also chipped in as a bowler when needed. We may see a bidding war among teams to acquire him.
