Will Ben Stokes play in IPL 2025?

With many big names set to go under the IPL mega auction hammer, what is the status of England's finest all-rounder Ben Stokes? Has he registered himself for the IPL mega auction?

More than 1500 players registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, but one name that was missing and came as a setback to many was England’s finest all-rounder, Ben Stokes. He decided not to take part in the upcoming IPL as he did not register for the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. This New Zealand-born England cricketer needs no introduction, known as one of the best all-rounders in the current era with his potential to turn the game from any stage. Always known to be a big-match player, whether it was the 2019 50-over World Cup final or an Ashes clash against Australia, he always came out on top. However, his IPL journey has been mixed, especially in the later part when he joined CSK, where he was out most of the time due to injury. Stokes’ name first gained attention in the IPL when he was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiant at a record price of INR 14.5 crore, and he performed decently. But his pinnacle form came with Rajasthan Royals, where he capitalized on every possible moment. However, with his absence this time, it is surely a shock to his fans.

How many teams has Ben Stokes played for in IPL?

Three teams in total have had Ben Stokes in the IPL, starting with Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017, then Rajasthan Royals from 2018 to 2021, where he had an amazing outing for the pink camp, including a century in 2020 against five-time champions Mumbai Indians. In 2023, Stokes joined CSK and became the team’s most expensive player ever, with a bid of Rs. 16.25 crore. However, he only played in a few matches due to a knee injury.
