“Pakistan have themselves to blame”: Aakash Chopra on India refusing to travel for Champions Trophy 2025

Aakash Chopra called out the security situation in Pakistan to justify India's decision to not send the team for Champions Trophy 2025

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra called out the sorry state of security affairs in Pakistan amid the row over India not sending the team for Champions Trophy 2025. The ICC informed the PCB of India’s refusal to travel to the neighbouring county for the event. India last travelled to Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup following which geopolitical tensions between the two nations forced India to boycott cricket in Pakistan.

‘Pakistan are to blame for India not traveling for Champions Trophy 2025’

Speaking in a video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra pointed out that the decision to not send the side was not the BCCI’s but the government of India. He claimed that Pakistan were themselves to blame, flagging a bomb blast at a railway station in Quetta recently.

They have communicated that they will not give the permission to go there. So India are not going. In a way, they (Pakistan) have themselves to blame. Yesterday only I saw that there was a bomb blast in a railway station in Quetta, and then whatever Pakistan are involved in when we talk about India, especially Kashmir,” Aakash Chopra added.

The coveted eight-team competition is set to take place at three locations in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9. Eight teams will compete for the Champions Trophy, with two groups of four, semi-finals, and a final. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are among the teams who are competing.

As expected, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retaliated by threatening to pull out of the Champions Trophy. Some reports also claimed Pakistan mulling to take India to court over their refusal to travel to Pakistan. The schedule for the event was to be released in Lahore on November 10 but was cancelled in the last minute.
