IPL 2025 Auction: MI need to get India bowler who was released by LSG, bowls over 140 kmph

IPL 2025 Auction: Shivam Mavi has played 6 T20Is for India as well, where he has picked up 7 wickets at an economy of 8.71.

Before the IPL Auction 2025, it has to be admitted, that MI look the most sorted team, having saved their core — Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. This pack of five is a certainly in the XI, and now the team has to think about 3-4 foreign players, if at all, and a couple of Indians, to complete their utterly strong team.

Shivam Mavi Could Fit Well in MI

Having retained only Bumrah at IPL Retention, it is clear, that the MI management wants to invest heavy in the young Indian talent, be it spinners, or even the fast bowlers. And that would be on their radar come the IPL Auction on November 24, 25 in Jeddah. So, who are the players they should target?

Without much thinking, the team should be aiming to get India pacer Shivam Mavi in their ranks. After being bagged by LSG for 6.4 Cr for IPL 2024, the 25-year-old had to miss the entire season due to a fourth stress fracture. Anyways, the pacers and up and about now, and is performing in the Ranji Trophy for UP at the moment.

IPL 2025 Auction

Shivam Mavi has had decent returns already, having bagged 6 wickets in two matches and has even scored 50 runs so far. While he missed the full 2023 IPL season as well, he must be itching to go, and MI would be the best place for him to work at. Not only Jasprit Bumrah will help him grow as a bowler, but would also be crucial in sharing insights, as to how to preserve his back.

For the record, Shivam Mavi has played 32 IPL matches in his career, and has bagged 30 wickets. He has had a decent economy rate of 8.71.
