CSK should buy back Ajinkya Rahane at IPL 2025 auction to regain middle-order stability

Ajinkya Rahane, who was released by CSK ahead of IPL 2025 auction, could add the much-needed stability to their power packed middle-order

Ajinkya Rahane turned out to be quite the surprise package when he landed up in CSK in 2023. Known for his ability in the red-ball format, it was assumed that the Mumbai batter had no future in white-ball cricket. But that changed with his arrival to CSK. Fans got to witness a never seen before aggressive side of Rahane, quite the polar opposite of what they were used to seeing. Now, Rahane has been released ahead of IPL 2025 auction and is for the grabs for any team. However, it would be wiser for CSK to buy back the batter.

Barring 2021, there has been no season when Rahane has not touched the triple figure mark in terms of runs amassed in a season. With 4642 runs to his name, Rahane is one of the best Indian batters who are still active in IPL.

Currently, the CSK middle-order comprises of just Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube. The team will be on the hunt to build a balanced squad which have a blend of experience and youth. At the fag end of his career in white-ball cricket, Rahane could find no better place than CSK to finish his stint in the IPL.
