Suryakumar Yadav will try for a hat-trick when India plays South Africa in the first of three Twenty20 Internationals on Friday at Kingsmead in Durban. Yadav began his T20I captaincy with back-to-back series wins against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This match is also a replay of the 2024 T20 World Cup final, in which Rohit Sharma’s team defeated the Proteas by a margin of five runs.
NCA chief VVS Laxman has been assigned to supervise the coaching duties for the South Africa trip.
India has included a few fresh faces in their squad for the South Africa series. Hard-hitting all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, who caught attention with his performances for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 and the Emerging Asia Cup, has earned a spot. Meanwhile, Vijaykumar Vyshak has been rewarded for his impressive stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last IPL season.
