‘Pant could be the most expensive player in IPL history’: Aakash Chopra believe teams can break bank India star

Rishabh Pant apparently had a fall out with the Delhi Capitals management which saw the ace batter not being retained by DC

One of the most sought players in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction will be Rishabh Pant. And former India cricketer Aakash Chopra predicts Rishabh Pant can well become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chopra predicts that Rishabh Pant can be sold be for a whooping price of 25-26 crores.

One of the biggest highlights of the IPL 2025 Retention Day was Delhi Capitals not retaining their captain. This means that Rishabh Pant will go under the hammer and every team will be ready to break their banks for the destructive southpaw. Rishabh Pant kept their base price in the 2 crore bracket.

Highest Priced Player in IPL History

“The big thing is who all have kept themselves in the Rs 2 crore bracket. A lot of Indian players, including KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Pant could be the most expensive player in IPL history. He can go above 25-26 crores,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

As things stand, Mitchell Starc is the highest-priced player in IPL history after Kolkata Knight Riders bought the Australian speedster for a price of 24.75 crores. And now a year later Rishabh Pant can very well toppel the record at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Aakash Chopra further added that each and every team will be bidding aggressively for the India wicket-keeper. And this can very well see Pant being sold for a price of over 25 crores. He added that teams like Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru who have the most budget will be the top teams fighting to acquire Pant.

“I can see at least three teams going absolutely hammer and tongs. One (PBKS) has 110 crores and another (RCB) has 83 crores. I feel a lot of money will be spent when they fight amongst themselves,” Chopra concluded.
