The ICC had announced the new Future Tours Program (FTP) for 2025-29. One of the biggest highlights is all the Women’s T20 tournaments have been given separate windows. This means the Women’s Premier League (WPL) dates won’t be clashing with the likes of WBBL or The Hundred.
It is believed the Women’s Premier League will take place in January-February time frame in 2026. On the other hand, the WBBL will be held in November while The Hundred will be held in the month of August.
This move from the ICC was anticipated after the BCCI moved the WPL which saw the dates and schedule clashing with WBBL. In a bid to avoid such a clash, WPL will be held in the early months of 2026 while WBBL will be held in the latter part of the year.
New ICC event every year
Apart from Zimbabwe joining the Women’s Championship, there is one new addition. The ICC has also announced A T20 Champions Trophy for the Women. The inaugural season is set to be held in 2027 with Sri Lanka adjudged to be the hosts. The global tournament will see 6 teams fighting with each other for 16 matches as the build up for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics continue.
