3 players PBKS can target through RTM in IPL 2025 mega auction

Punjab Kings have the highest number of RTMs available for the IPL 2025 mega auction, having retained only two players ahead of the auction.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have retained only two players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, giving them an opportunity to strengthen their squad by using the Right to Match (RTM) card. This will allows them to target impactful players who could make a difference for PBKS and potentially be acquired at a lower price in the auction. With just two players retained, PBKS will be eager to sign new talent or bring back strong performers to build a competitive and well-rounded team for the upcoming season. Here are three players PBKS may want to target with RTM to boost their chances of success in the 2025 IPL.

Arshdeep Singh

Punjab Kings retained only two players in IPL 2025, both uncapped and valued at Rs. 4 crore: Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Surprisingly, they did not retain Arshdeep Singh, which has raised eyebrows. The team may consider reacquiring him during the IPL 2025 mega auction as he had taken 19 wickets in the previous season.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone is a player PBKS should prioritize retaining. The English all-rounder is in top form, consistently scoring runs at an impressive rate. Originally acquired by PBKS for Rs. 11.5 crore in the 2022 auction, Livingstone would be a strong candidate for their RTM card if the bid stays within reach. With a strike rate above 150, he brings the ability to score quickly, making him a dynamic asset for PBKS’s lineup in the IPL 2025 season.

Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow could be a valuable pick for PBKS if he doesn’t attract a high bid at the auction. As a wicketkeeper-batter, he brings the ability to score quickly and aggressively, adding depth to both the batting lineup and wicketkeeping options. Previously acquired by PBKS for Rs. 6.7 crore, there’s a chance he could be re-signed at a lower price if other teams show limited interest in him during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
