3 players teams could target through RTM card in IPL 2025 mega auction

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, let’s explore three players who could be potential targets for the Right to Match (RTM) card.

IPL franchises were permitted to retain up to six players from their IPL 2024 squads before the mega auction. However, only two teams chose to keep all six players. Five franchises retained five players each, giving themselves the flexibility to use the Right to Match (RTM) option for one additional player. KKR and SRH will go to IPL 2025 mega auction with zero RTM card.

DC will go into the auction with two RTMs, while the RCB and PBKS will have three and four RTMs, respectively.

Rishabh Pant

As Delhi Capitals did not retain Rishabh Pant in their IPL 2025 retention list, he is set to enter the auction. However, DC could reacquire him during the IPL 2025 auction using the Right to Match (RTM) card if they do not secure another captain for their team. Nevertheless, matching his price at the auction will be challenging.

Arshdeep Singh

Punjab Kings retained only two players in IPL 2025, both uncapped and valued at 4 crore: Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Surprisingly, they did not retain Arshdeep Singh, which has raised eyebrows. The team may consider reacquiring him during the IPL 2025 mega auction as he had taken 19 wickets in the previous sason.

Mohammed Siraj

RCB did not include Mohammed Siraj in their retention list, though he could be a target for the Right to Match (RTM) card as he has been a key bowler for them. The Indian pacer will need to prove his value with exceptional performances to attract a strong IPL bid. If Siraj doesn’t command a high price, RCB may use their RTM card to retain him. Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, he could deliver his best.
