IND vs AUS: “Three seamers, Jadeja and Sundar”: Simon Doull warns India against playing four seamers

IND vs AUS: India begin their tour Down Under, and it seems like Washington Sundar will have a crucial role to play there.

Team India has already lost IND vs NZ series 0-2, and after what transpired towards the end of the day, the hosts should be wary of a whitewash at home. With Virat Kohli’s poor run-out, India were reduced to 86/4, still 149 runs adrift of Kiwis’ first innings total. After years, 12 to be precise, India has looked off colour in a Test series at home, where the batters have looked clueless.

Washington Sundar Over R Ashwin

Having said that, the spinners have done fairly well, including R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and even Washington Sundar. After watching these developments, former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull, spoke about the probable team combination that India should go with, in Australia.

Doull went on to suggest that, Washington Sundar would be a better option for Team India, than R Ashwin. Sundar impressed one and all with his seven-wicket haul in the second Test at Pune, and was decent with the bat as well. “The skill that Washington Sundar has shown, he has the ball that skids on, and he has the ball that turns, gets nice and high. I think he is really becoming a push to play in the Australia Test matches,” Doull said on JioCinema.

India vs Australia

In this very series, in the three innings that he has bowled in, Sundar has picked up 15 wickets. Meanwhile, Doull went on to add that India should shy away from playing four fast bowlers Down Under. “And I think from an Indian point of view when you look forward, play your best five bowlers. And the best five bowlers I have seen here is the three seamers, Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Don’t play four seamers for the sake of it just because you are going to Australia,” Doull said.

“He is really bowling his way to being one of those better bowlers. Nathan Lyon proves it that off-spinners can work Down Under,” Doull added.
