It has been around a year since Ishan Kishan last played a match for the India Cricket Team. He left the IND vs SA tour midway to return to the country. Following which he remained aloof and was subsequently snubbed off his BCCI Central Contract. But now after consistent performances in domestic circuit, he finally got a chance in India A for the Shadow tour of Australia.
Ishan Kishan didn’t give any chance for the selectors to think otherwise. His centuries in Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy were enough to secure his place in the India A team for Australia. And now after his callup in the National circuit after 11 months, Kishan feels special to be back.
Ishan Kishan makes India A comeback
“Obviously very special for me. I am very happy about it as it’s another opportunity for me to go there and perform with a bunch of great players coming on the tour. Very happy about getting my name back and getting everything back on track,” Ishan Kishan told the Times of India.
It hasn’t been an easy journey for Kishan. He didn’t pay any heed to BCCI when was instructed to play domestic cricket. He played practiced with Hardik Pandya and then played Buchi Babu tournament before IPL 2024. But, then Kishan had a change of heart.
He went on to start playing in the domestic setup and given the potential he has, his bat did the talking. With centuries coming on, and leading the Jharkhand side in Ranji Trophy, he got his chance in the national team setup again.

Hunger is Important claims Kishan
“I am someone who loves to perform for the team, loves to stay happy and loves to help people around. Looking back, when I used to see my name in every squad I was very happy but I felt I needed to do more for the team. I was never satisfied with the performances… I always used to think about doing better. I was always in that frame of mind. I was happy back then, and right now also,” he added.
“I feel hunger is very important. It comes when you take rest also, when you don’t get to play so many matches. That is the time when that hunger kicks in and you would have also seen batters going in and just going bang, bang. That’s the thing I felt was missing sometimes but I am really happy about whatever is happening right now,” Kishan concluded.
