Ever wondered, as to how much price will the stars from yesteryears get in the IPL auction, which team will they go to? If you have and are still confused about your choices, at least former cricketer Aakash Chopra has made your life easy. In his latest video, the ex-opener spoke about the legends who would make crores in the IPL.
Meanwhile, all his picks were the players, he saw playing. Talking on his Youtube channel, Chopra’s first pick was England’s Ian Botham. “At No. 5 is Sir Ian Botham. He was an incredible player, used to get the ball to swing, bowl fast, and bat along with that. He used to hit sixes, pick up wickets. What a quality player, brought two dimensions to the field,” he said.
The next on the list was South Africa’s Lance Klusener. Yet another all-rounder who dominated the world of cricket in the 90s and early 2000s. “If Lance Klusener had been there in today’s era, we would have spent 20-25 crores to acquire him,” Chopra added. The third pick on the list was a big surprise, as he picked Pakistan’s legendary bowler, Wasim Akram. In fact, the latter had gone on to coach KKR for a decent amount of time as well.
Not to mention, Sir Viv Richards was also an automatic pick for Chopra, who changed the style of batting in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. In the end, he concluded with former India skipper Kapil Dev.
He said, “I have kept Kapil Dev at No. 1, because he is an India. When he used to hit four consecutive sixes in Tests, how much he would have thrashed the bowlers in T20s. In bowling, he used to get the ball to swing. I have no doubt in my mind that if Kapil Dev had ever been in the auction, he would have been the most expensive player.”
