Just a few days remain before the IPL 2025 Retention deadline. And it is almost confirmed that Shubman Gill will be retained by Gujarat Titans. The young Indian batter will captain the side while Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Rashid Khan is also expected to be retained for IPL 2025.
Previously, reports had emerged that Shubman Gill is likely to go down in the mega auction. But now as per reports from ANI, Gill is set to continue his stint with the Titans. He was selected as the captain of the side last season when Hardik Pandya switched trades to Mumbai Indians.
Shubman Gill to lead GT again
“Shubman Gill to lead the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, and Rashid Khan will play under him. Many big teams were eyeing him and were looking to have him in auction. Gill wants to stay loyal to GT and build a strong team,” GT sources told ANI.
Had Shubman Gill been present in the auction, almost every team would have liked to get the star-opening batter on their side. But Gujarat Titans won’t let that happen. In fact, it is the player who wants to stay loyal to the franchise and wants to continue to lead the side.
Gill will also be joined by Rashid Khan. The star all-rounder joined the Titans alongside Gill in 2022 when the team was formed. Gill this time will be eyeing to recreate the wonderful start that the team had back in 2022. GT won the title under Hardik Pandya in their debut season of IPL 2022.
