Rodri becomes first ever player from Manchester City to win Ballon d’Or award

Rodri clinched Manchester City's first Ballon d'Or title, while Aitana Bonmatí retained the Ballon d'Or Féminin.

Rodri clinched the Best Men’s Player award at the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony held at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris on Monday, marking him as the first Manchester City player to receive this esteemed honour. Vinicius secured the second position, while his Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham took third place in the awards rankings.

Rodri recently added the Euro 2024 title with Spain and the 2023-24 Premier League title with Manchester City to his achievements. The Spaniard also achieved a historic treble—Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup—with City in the 2022-23 season, playing a crucial role in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Talking about the women’s best player, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí has once again claimed the Ballon d’Or Féminin, surpassing her teammate Caroline Graham Hansen to secure the award for the second year in a row.

The 26-year-old delivered standout performances as Barça clinched an unprecedented quadruple last season. Bonmatí celebrated her fifth Liga F title, third Women’s Champions League, sixth Copa de la Reina, and fourth Spanish Supercopa, marking an exceptional chapter in her career.
