“Had a sense I could be going to AUS”: Harshit Rana opens up on maiden Test call up

Harshit Rana has 36 wickets from 9 FC matches, and has even scored a ton, to solidify his claim in the IND vs AUS Test series.

Harshit Rana, without even playing a single match for Team India, has become the next big thing, as far as the fast-bowling all-rounders are concerned. Recently, he was picked for the IND vs AUS series Down Under, and only solidified his claim with a fifer for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

It would only be fair to say that his rise started from IPL 2024, where he picked up 19 wickets in only 13 matches, where he had a few rundowns with the match officials, for unruly behaviour. Speaking with Sportstar, he said, that the competitiveness and the attitude comes from the Aussie team.

“The competitiveness and attitude that I have on the field, I like playing the kind of cricket that Australia does.” He was also made a part of the white-ball squads, but didn’t really get a chance to play for the country then. “I had a sense that I could be going to Australia because they had kept me with the (Test) team and were preparing me,” Rana added.

Opening up upon the time he spent with the Indian team, he said, “The experience has not been related to cricket alone but about life overall and how a sportsperson builds his life. As a cricketer, I have grown a lot by being with the Indian team.”
