ICYMI: Shami says “sorry to all fans & BCCI” after failing to punch ticket for IND vs AUS Tests

Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami apologised to his fans & the BCCI and informed that he was working hard to make a comeback to red-ball cricket

India cricket team pacer Mohammed Shami is still recovering from his injury and is not a part of India’s squad for AUS vs IND Test series. The veteran is yet to return to competitive cricket after being on the sidelines since the ODI World Cup in 2023. Shami, who was confident of making his comeback in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was unavailable for selection after failing to recover completely.

Shami apologises to fans and BCCI

Mohammed Shami took to Instagram to upload a reel of him sweating it out in the gym. He informed that he was putting in the hard work to ensure that he was fit to return to action, especially in red-ball cricket. Shami is expected to make his comeback in the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy game for Bengal.

When will Shami make India comeback?

Shami still has a chance to make a comeback at the IND vs AUS Test series, provided he proves himself 100% fit to the selectors in the 4th round of Ranji Trophy. He is expected to feature in Bengal vs Karnataka on November 6 and then in another game against Madhya Pradesh on November 13. In any case, Shami is bound to miss the first two Tests in Australia even if he manages to punch a ticket later.

“A call on Mohammed Shami’s inclusion will be taken after the pacer proves his fitness in the Ranji Trophy. As reported earlier, Shami is expected to play Bengal’s fourth round match against Karnataka in Bengaluru in the first week of November after Diwali,” a source told The Indian Express.

The Indian team will depart for Australia on November 10. The first IND vs AUS Test will be played in Perth from November 22. The gruelling series will determine India’s chances of making it to their third consecutive WTC final.
