Just a couple of days remain before the IPL 2025 Retention Deadline. And now former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has opened up about his future. The Thala went on to reveal that he wants to enjoy the last few years of cricket he has left in him before hanging up his boots.
It is understood that CSK will retain their superstar for IPL 2025 and won’t bother allowing MS Dhoni to go under the hammer in the IPL Mega Auction. While Harbhajan Singh wants CSK to make MS Dhoni their number-one pick, in all probability, Dhoni is likely to be retained as an uncapped player.
MS Dhoni prepared to play IPL
“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” said Dhoni.
Dhoni claimed that he wants to enjoy the last few years left as he ends the twilight of his career. On the other hand, he explains that he understands the emotions while claiming that cricket as a professional sport is extremely difficult. But as things stand, he is in no way ready to quit.
Coming to fitness concerns, Dhoni claimed that he needs to keep himself fit and ready for 9 months so that he can play two and half months of IPL. This requires proper planning.
“I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit,” Dhoni concluded.
