Final audition for “uncapped” Arjun Tendulkar before IPL 2025 retention deadline, all eyes on Nagaland tie

Arjun Tendulkar stands veery little chances of being retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction

Arjun Tendulkar has one last chance to let Mumbai Indians consider retaining him ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. The pacer, who plays for Goa in the Ranji Trophy plate tournament, will be in action in the game against Nagaland. While Sachin Tendulkar’s son stands very little chance of being retained by the 5-time champions, it remains to be seen if he can change the mind of the franchises. The deadline for the teams to submit their retention lists is October 31.

Will MI retain Arjun Tendulkar ahead o IPL 2025 auction?

Arjun Tendulkar has been in good form in first-class cricket recently. In his last outing, he took six wickets in the game against Sikkim, although he was a tad bit expensive. The game saw Tendulkar bowl spells of 2/31 and 4/81. However, Arjun has had very little game time this year, given that before the Ranji match, he played only one game in IPL 2024 for MI. Prior to that, his last first-class outing came in February.

Arjun Tendulkar has mostly warmed the bench while playing for MI in IPL. He was picked up in IPL 2021 auction for a base price of Rs 20 lakhs but has been least impressive over the years. Overall, he has played 4 IPL matches and has only three wickets to his name, averaging 38 with a terrible economy rate of 9.37. Given that he played only one match in 2024, it is highly unlikely for MI to consider retaining him, even as an uncapped player.

Arjun Tendulkar’s first-class numbers aren’t that bad, with the cricketer having only started out on his senior career path just a few years ago. He has two four-wicket hauls to his name from 11 matches so far and averages 39.29. He doesn’t stand any chance of making it to the Indian team in any format in the near future. But he can make a name for himself in IPL, provided he is retained by Mumbai Indians. It is safe to say that no other team will be looking forward to picking up Tendulkar at the auction table.
