Trouble in Paradise! India fall like in nine pins to Kiwi spin attack on home soil in IND vs NZ 2nd Test

Hosts India falter to play spin attack of Kiwis on home soil. Another Test and again India's middle order collapses!

The India Cricket Team is in great danger. The hosts now are placed in a precarious situation where they have lost 7 wickets after managing to cross 100 runs in their first innings. Team India has fallen like nine pins on Day 2 of the IND vs NZ 2nd Test in Pune. The slow-turning track has worked reverse for the hosts who have been unable to counter the spin attack enforced by the Kiwis.

Save Rohit Sharma who departed yesterday, all the other batters have been dismissed by spinners. Hopes were high on ace batter Virat Kohli to leave a mark in the game, but he too was sent packing, bowled by Mitchell Santner who has already picked up a four-fer.

India fail to play spin at Home

India’s middle order too failed to put up a fight. The entire middle order of the hosts crumbled like a pack of cards in front of Santner, Ajaz Patel, and Glenn Phillips. After going down 1-0 in the Bengaluru Test, India traveled to Pune where a slow spinning track was prepared for the hosts.

But, the plan completely backfired on Rohit Sharma and Co. While Washington Sundar grabbed a 7-wicket haul and Ashwin bagged the other three wickets, Indians too failed to counter the spin attack. Be it Kohli or Rishabh Pant, none failed to play spin on their home soil.

Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Pant, and Ashwin all fell victims with no Indian batters unable to register a half-century. As things stand, it is Ravindra Jadeja who is taking on the spinners, often stepping up and hitting fours. But the Southpaw too have come close to being dismissed multiple times, only to be saved by whiskers.
