Injury blow for Real Madrid: Rodrygo out for three weeks, missing El Clasico against Barcelona

Real Madrid will be without Rodrygo for three weeks due to a thigh injury, missing the crucial El Clasico clash against FC Barcelona this weekend.

Following his substitution during the match against Borussia Dortmund earlier this week, Real Madrid has officially announced that Rodrygo Goes has suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh. This unfortunate development means he will miss the highly anticipated El Clasico clash against FC Barcelona.

The 23-year-old forward showed signs of discomfort late in the UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday night and was unable to finish the game. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Rodrygo would indeed be sidelined for this weekend’s El Clasico.

Official confirmation after testing

However, Real Madrid delayed the official announcement until further tests could be conducted to determine the exact extent of the injury. The results have now been shared, stating: “Following the tests carried out today on our player Rodrygo Goes by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right femoral biceps. Pending evolution.”

Rodrygo potential return date

According to Spanish media reports, the Brazilian international is expected to be out for a period of 15-20 days. This means Rodrygo will not only miss this week’s El Clasico but will also sit out subsequent matches against Valencia, AC Milan, and CA Osasuna.

If his recovery goes smoothly and the timeline holds true, the forward could make his return after the next international break when Real Madrid faces Leganés on November 24.

Increased Pressure for Real Madrid

In addition to Rodrygo’s absence, Real Madrid will also miss their first-choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who picked up a niggle in the adductor muscle of his left leg during the match against Dortmund.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is in top form after defeating German side Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. This winning streak could heighten the pressure on manager Carlo Ancelotti as he prepares for the crucial match against their rivals.
