Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been forced to sit out from the first Women’s ODI between India and New Zealand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Women’s Twitter account announced that Harmanpreet has been “rested” due to a “niggle”. Consequently, Smriti Mandhana has been designated with the opportunity to captain the team in the first ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Mandhana, meanwhile, won the toss and elected to bat first in the scorching heat of Ahmedabad.
No Harmanpreet Kaur in IND vs NZ 1st WODI
Harmanpreet Kaur last played a one-day international back in June when she had a superlative series against South Africa, hammering a century as well. However, in her absence, India have gone ahead with involving Dayalan Hemalatha at number four. Jemimah Rodrigues’ role will be ever-so-critical with no Harmanpreet in the team.
