Harshit Rana released from India squad, to replace Navdeep Saini in Delhi for Ranji Trophy tie vs Assam

Harshit Rana, who was a part of the traveling reserves of the Indian team, has been released and will now play for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy

Pacer Harshit Rana has been released from India’s squad for the New Zealand Tests and is now Ranji Trophy bound. The KKR bowler was a part of the traveling reserves for the three-match series against the Kiwis. As per a report, Rana will now feature in the Delhi vs Assam clash which will take place at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

As per Times of India, the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) requested for Harshit Rana to join the side for their next match against Assam. The pacer will replace Navdeep Saini, who will miss the next round match as he has been named in the India A squad that will tour Australia. Rana’s last domestic red-ball match came at the Duleep Trophy.

Harshit Rana had a breakout IPL 2024 season, bagging 19 wickets at a bowling strike rate of 13.3 in a title-winning campaign for KKR.

Harshit Rana is yet to make his Test debut for India despite being a part of the squad for two series now. He was also a part of IND vs BAN series but only warmed the bench. The pacer’s return will boost Delhi’s confidence as they face Assam in what is a must-win game.

Other traveling reserves – Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy – have also been released from the Indian squad. While Reddy played for Andhra Pradesh against Gujarat recently, Mayank Yadav has been reportedly told to be prepared for the IND vs SA T20Is that will begin in November.
