The amount of speculations that have come before the IPL Retentions is just insane. A report on Wednesday had emerged, that spoke about Gujarat Titans not retaining their current skipper Shubman Gill, with the latter wanting to enter the auction. It also spoke about how Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan was going to be their first pick in the IPL Retentions.

But GT has chosen to respond to the speculation, which has perhaps given birth to another one. The team posted pictures of Rashid and Shubman together, as if sending a signal to all the fans, that the duo will be retained before the IPL Auction. After all, they are the most important players of the team.
Shubman Gill has the most runs for GT, hammering 1799 runs at an average of 44.97, including four tons. His strike rate also stands at 147, and also has 10 fifties to his name. On the other hand, in as many matches, Rashid Khan is the most successful bowler for the franchise, picking up 56 wickets, at an economy of 7.67.
GT IPL Retentions for 2025
Losing their main players doesn’t really looks like an option for one of the most consistent teams in the IPL. Rather they would like to build their team around Shubman and Rashid. In fact, the GT management would be keen on retaining the likes of David Miller, Mohit Sharma, and Sai Sudarshan as well, who have performed consistently well.
One of the grey areas that remains is, the injury of Mohammed Shami. Although he is an automatic retention for any team, but his injury for the last one year has changed the scenario for him. If doubts remain over his fitness, then in all likelihood, the team management would be compelled to look beyond him.
