Rawalpindi to assist Noman Ali and Sajid Khan again, ground staff use heaters to dry up pitch

PAK vs ENG: The second Test saw Noman Ali bag 11 wickets, while Sajid Khan returned with nine, to pip England by a huge margin.

After tasting success in the second PAK vs ENG Test at Multan, all because of their spin battery, the Pakistani team is almost certain of preparing a similar wicket for the third Test in Rawalpindi. After being outclassed in the first match, Pakistan made wholesale changes in the team, and brought in spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who managed to pick up 20 wickets together.

Courtesy of that, the Shan Masood-led team is still alive in the series, and can even harbour hopes of winning it now. While the Multan wicket was conducive to spin, the PCB is leaving no stone unturned to prepare a similar wicket for the Rawalpindi Test. As per a report in Geo Super, pedestal fans and heaters are being used for the pitch, to make it a dry one.

The report further stated that three heaters were place on each side of the wicket. Even black cloth was used to aid the drying up of the pitch. If that is not enough, the pitch will also remain uncovered during the day time, to bake it further.

The new Pakistan selector, Aaqib Javed has also asked the ground staff to keep the entire square, as dry as possible. In fact, the former pacer also had a close look at the preparation of the wicket. Meanwhile, the third and the last Test will start on October 24, and will end of 28.
