Star Australian all-rounder Cameron Green took to Instagram on Sunday (October 20) to provide an update following his back surgery. The 25-year-old, who has represented Australia in 28 Tests, 28 ODIs, and 13 T20Is, posted a couple of pictures captioned, “First coffee walk post-surgery.” In the first image, he can be seen resting on the hospital bed post-surgery, while in the second, he enjoys a cup of coffee.
Injury forces Green to miss India series
Green sustained an injury during the Australia-England ODI series last month, which means he will miss the upcoming five-match Test series against India. The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy kicks off on November 22 in Perth. Reports indicate that Green will be sidelined for at least four to six months and could potentially return during IPL 2025 or the World Test Championship final if Australia qualifies.
A big loss for Australia
Green’s absence will be felt in the Test series against India. The Western Australian cricketer has amassed1,377 runs in Tests, along with 35 wickets to his name. With Green out, Mitchell Marsh will need to take on greater responsibility with the ball as Australia faces a tough challenge against the Indian side.
Australia looking for a win in Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Australia has struggled against India in recent years, failing to win the last four Test series, including two on home soil. Notably, India secured its first-ever Test series victory on Australian soil during the 2018-19 tour under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, repeating the feat two years later under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy Schedule
The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will feature five Tests. Following the series opener in Perth, the teams will compete in a day-night Test at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. The remaining matches will take place at The Gabba in Brisbane (December 14-18), Melbourne Cricket Ground (December 26-30), and Sydney Cricket Ground (January 3-7, 2025).
