When India came to Bengaluru to play the first Test against New Zealand after thrashing Bangladesh, it was expected that they would do the same to the Kiwis as well. However, the Black Caps came well prepared and delivered some outstanding performances in the first Test. Their first breakthrough came when they bundled India out for just 46 runs, which was a setback on Day 2. However, India made a comeback and currently set a target of 107 runs for the Black Caps. For now, things are looking under New Zealand’s control. So, what will happen if India loses this game? Will it affect their WTC final chances, or will there be no change here?
What happens if India loses to New Zealand?
Since India remains at the top of the WTC table, holding a percentage of points of 74.24, having won eight out of 11 matches in the current cycle. So, if India loses this first game, or if rain forces the game to a draw, as rain is expected on the last day of the first Test, it will not hamper India’s chances to qualify for the WTC finals. India is currently at the top of the WTC points table and needs three wins out of eight. If they lose, they must win their last two games before heading to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where the team will play five Test matches.
