One Man Army: Netizens praise skipper Rohit Sharma for quickfire fifty in IND vs NZ 1st Test

The right-handed batter scored 52 runs off just 63 balls hitting 8 fours and one maximum.

IND vs NZ 1st Test: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma completed a quickfire fifty during the second innings of the ongoing Test match. The Indian captain brought his fifty after smashing three consecutive boundaries as the home inched closer to the 100-run mark in their second innings. Here are some reactions on Rohit Sharma’s fifty in IND vs NZ 1st Test.

IND vs NZ 1st Test: Rohit Sharma dismissed after fifty

After completing his fifty, Rohit Sharma got unlucky as he was dismissed by Ajaz Patel. The right-handed batter scored 52 runs off just 63 balls hitting 8 fours and one maximum. Speaking about his dismissal against Ajaz Patel, the Kiwi spinner bowled slower through the air, full on the off stump delivery as Rohit gets forward to block but gets an inside edge that trickles back onto hit base of the stumps. Rohit failed to see back in time to keep the ball away from the stumps, at least by using his boots.

Speaking more about the IND vs NZ 1st Test match, New Zealand were restricted 402/10 in their first innings. In their second innings, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal formed a good opening stand before Jaiswal was dismissed by Patel.

Rohit then formed a short but sweet partnership with Virat Kohli and completed his fifty before going back to the pavilion. At present, Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan are at the crease for team India with the home side trailing by more than 200 runs in their second innings.

The Indian batters will have to bat quite well in order to give a stiff target to the Kiwis and try to get them all-out in their second innings.
