Sourav Ganguly’s minor shareholding in DC means Dada is going nowhere, despite chaos

IPL 2025: Sourav Ganguly minor shareholder of Delhi Capitals, owns 10% stake of 50% share of JSW's share of Delhi Capitals

The chaos continues in Delhi Capitals. And now Delhi Capitals have made some changes. Sourav Ganguly is now the Head of Cricket for JSW sports. And in the swap at DC, Venugapal Rao is now the head of cricket in DC while Hemang Badami is appointed as the new head coach of the capitals. But amidst all the chaos, Ganguly won’t be leaving Delhi Capitals as he is a minor share owner of the team.

To make matters clear, RevSportz revealed that Sourav Ganguly is a minor co-owner of the Delhi Capitals team. As per the agreement, both JSW and GMR share a 50% stake in the club. And now Sourav Ganguly owns 10% of the 50% stake owned by Parth Jindal’s JSW, thereby making Ganguly a shareholder of the team as well.

What’s next for Sourav Ganguly?

Sourav Ganguly won’t be parting ways with Delhi Capitals. Rather, he will take a back seat and take strategic calls like auctions and player retentions. On the other hand, Ganguly will have a complete hands-on role in the Delhi Capitals Women’s Team and SA20 side Pretoria Capitals.

“Key decisions like auctions, captaincy, player releases, and retentions for both teams will be made by the Delhi Capitals’ board, with mutual agreement between the senior leadership of both groups,” the official statement said.

After the span of 2 years, Ganguly will make a return to Delhi Capitals and IPL. InsideSport can confirm that Sourav Ganguly will once again take an active role in DC from IPL 2027.

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the JSW Group and the Jindal family personally and professionally which made this an easy decision. JSW Sports has been doing visionary work across the board, and I am pleased to be able to lend my experience to all its cricketing projects,”Ganguly said.
