The captain leads the ship and sinks with it. And rightly so, the India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma showed enormous guts today. After Team India was bowled out for a mere score of 48 runs, Rohit Sharma stepped up and went on to attend the post-day press conference of Day 2 of the IND vs NZ 1st Test.
India had a horrible day on the field. After a disastrous show with the bat, the bowling and fielding were sub-par compared to India’s standards. India was bowled out for a score of 46 runs as New Zealand comfortably ended the day with a score of 180/3 and a comfortable lead of 134 runs.

“On a pitch where there were assistance for seamers, and now that we got out for 46, you can say the shot selection wasn’t upto the mark. It was a bad day. Sometimes you want to do something but could not execute,” Rohit Sharma said in the press conference.
Disastrous day for Team India
Interestingly, India’s batting suffered a total collapse with as many as 5 batters being dismissed for ducks. These included top names like Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The bowling was also subpar. In fact, the dual pacer approach failed. Neither Siraj nor Bumrah managed to bag any wickets. Ashwin, Kuldeep, and Jadeja managed to scalp a wicket each.
“We thought, it won’t help seamers much after the first session or so. There wasn’t much grass too. We thought it would be flat. It was a misjudgement and I couldn’t read the pitch well. We can have a bad day on the field,” Rohit added.
It shows great courage from Rohit to attend the press conference after a poor day in the field. In fact way back in 2020 when India collapsed for 36, the then captain Virat Kohli went on to attend the media, showcasing that Indian captains won’t shy away from the face of any adversary.
