Mumbai cricket team skipper Ajinkya Rahane is gearing up for the side’s second round Ranji Trophy match after having lost the opening game. Ahead of their game against Maharashtra on October 18, the veteran took to social media to upload a reel with an intriguing caption. Incidentally, Rahane’s post comes on the same day when India suffered a top-order collapse in the IND vs NZ 1st Test in Bengaluru.

Ajinkya Rahane’s cryptic message amid IND vs NZ 1st Test

Rahane is out of the selectors’ scheme of things at present and has no chances to make it to the Indian Test side. India’s top-order suffered a massive collapse in the 1st innings at the M Chinnawamy stadium, with 9 batters departing for a single-digit score. Rahane, who is preparing for the Ranji Trophy, posted a video of his training session with a caption ‘ready to strike back’, making fans wonder if it was a cryptic message aimed at the selectors over his snub.

Rahane’s performance was miserable, the least to say, in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy game against Baroda. Earlier, he narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century in the Irani Cup tie against Rest of India. The Mumbai skipper also was a part of the One-Day Cup and the County Championships in England where he played for Leicestershire before the domestic season commenced.

IND vs NZ 1st Test, Day 2

The Indian top-order suffered a horrific collapse on Day 2 of the 1st Test at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Only Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant managed to score double-digit figures in the game while the rest of the batting order perished cheaply. Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who were once regulars in India’s Test side, have fallen out of the favour of the selectors recently. With India finding a good winning team combination, it is highly unlikely that the veterans would get a chance to make a comeback any time soon in the fiture.
