Some lucky fans got a chance to meet their cricketing star, Sanju Samson, having breakfast at a local shop in Karnataka. After scoring the second fastest T20I century for India against Bangladesh, Sanju Samson will make his return in the Ranji Trophy. The Kerala skipper will be leading the side against Karnataka in a group stage match of the Ranji Trophy.
Sanju Samson to play in Ranji Trophy 2024-25
Sanju Samson will make his return to the Ranji Trophy and will be in action for Kerala in the premier domestic tournament. Samson made his first-class debut for Kerala in 2011 but has only played 61 Ranji Trophy matches since then. He plied his trade for Kerala in the previous season.
The wicketkeeper-batsman missed the first round of the ongoing Ranji season due to his international commitments. Samson could play a couple of matches for Kerala before flying to South Africa for the four-match T20I series.
Kerala will face Karnataka in the second round of the tournament from October 18 to 21. Samson could be in contention to earn his maiden Test call-up if the team needs a replacement player.
The Ranji Trophy match between Kerala and Karnataka will not have a live telecast or streaming. The fans can follow the live score on the BCCI’s official website.
Will Sanju Samson play in IND vs NZ Test series?
Rishabh Pant is India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman. Dhruv Jurel, who has been on the bench since Rishabh’s comeback, is the backup wicketkeeper. Ishan Kishan and Samson are other contenders in the fray.
Ishan is capped in Test cricket but he doesn’t seem to be ahead of any wicketkeeper in the pecking order. Samson will hope to score big in the Ranji Trophy and present his case for selection.
The 29-year-old has scored 3819 runs in 64 first-class matches. His tally includes 11 centuries and 16 half-centuries. Samson has played 16 ODIs and 33 T20Is.
