About Women’s Hockey India League 2024-25
After a hiatus of seven years, the Hockey India League (HIL) is all set for a grand return in the 2024-25 season, with an expanded structure that now features both men’s and, for the first time ever, a dedicated women’s league.
Introducing a women’s league alongside the men’s contest marks a significant step forward for gender equality in Indian sports. This move provides female athletes with their own platform to showcase their talent, creating a more inclusive and competitive environment for hockey. By organising both men’s and women’s tournaments at the same time, the HIL distinguishes itself as one of the few sports leagues in India that actively fosters gender equality.
