3 MI players who could be in high demand in IPL 2025 mega auction if released by franchise

With many changes to make, Mumbai Indians, who came last in the IPL 2024 class, could release some big names. But if they do, those players could be in high demand in the IPL 2025 mega auction. But who are these superstars?

Mumbai Indians always have a pack of players who consistently perform well for them, and this is one of the reasons why, along with CSK, they are one of the most successful IPL franchises. However, before IPL 2025, we will see a mega auction, which means the franchise will need to release many players, including some big names. For MI, who have several star players, it’s a troubling situation.

But since there are many big MI names, if they are released, there’s no doubt they will fetch huge prices at the auction. So, who are those players that every franchise will be eyeing if MI releases them? Take a look at these top-quality players who will be in demand if the Mumbai camp releases them.

Rohit Sharma

There are enough reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma might not be retained by MI, and he could potentially leave the team. From MI’s perspective, Sharma may not be their top priority for retention, as they are likely to focus on keeping players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and youngsters. Also, with Rohit Sharma no longer being the team’s captain, there may not be much left for him at MI. So, if Sharma enters the auction, there’s no doubt he will attract significant bids, and many franchises will look to make him their captain.

Hardik Pandya

Last season, MI made Hardik Pandya their captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, but he couldn’t replicate the triumph he did with the Gujarat Titans. This decision faced strong opposition from MI fans, who didn’t accept Pandya as captain, and the all-rounder was met with boos. Also this affected the team’s performance, resulting in MI finishing last. Pandya’s personal form was also under the pump, as  he scored 216 runs in 14 matches with a highest score of 46, an average of 18, and a strike rate of 143.05. In bowling, he took 11 wickets in 12 innings with an average of 35.18 and an economy rate of 10.75. While nothing is confirmed from the MI camp, questions remain about whether Pandya will continue to lead the team. If not, MI may release him, but there’s no doubt about his caliber, and he could be a major name if he enters the auction.

Tim David

Over the last few seasons, this Singapore-born Australian cricketer has been one of the most talked-about players. Not to forget, in the last mega auction, six franchises bid for him. Tim David, who did an amazing job for MI with his power-packed batting and ability to control runs with his bowling, has played a total of 34 games for MI, scoring 658 runs with an impressive strike rate of 171.35 while batting down the order. There’s a chance MI may not retain him in their pack of five players, and if he goes under the hammer, this utility player could attract big bids in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
