The Hockey India League held an auction for the men’s franchise for the 2024-25 season. On Sunday and Monday (13th and 14th October), franchisees made a bid for their favourite stars to include them in their team. All 8 teams made a bid on a number of national and international (overseas) players.
Harmanpreet Singh emerged as the most expensive player with Soorma Hockey Club buying the player for the record price of 72 lakhs. Tamil Nadu Dragons bought the Indian team defender Amit Rohidas for the highest amount, getting him for 48 lakhs.

The Hockey India League (HIL) is all set to return after a seven-year hiatus, promising an exciting new edition later this year. This season will feature eight men’s teams and six women’s teams competing fiercely for glory. Matches will be held at two vibrant venues—Rourkela and Ranchi. The action is set to kick off on December 28, with a spectacular opening ceremony planned for the same day in Rourkela.
