Mayank Yadav joins Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep, and Hardik’s exclusive club during IND vs BAN 3rd T20I

Mayank Yadav joined an elite group of Indian bowlers by taking a wicket with his first ball of the innings, following Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya.

Mayank Yadav’s excellent improvement in international cricket took another jump forward as he made an immediate impact in Hyderabad, scalping a wicket at the very first ball of the innings during IND vs BAN third T20I. Handed the new ball for the first time in his third match, Mayank was quick to justify the trust placed in him by captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The 22-year-old pacer performed brilliantly by removing Parvez Hossain Emon with his first delivery with a sharp bouncer that the batter could only fend off, leading to a simple catch for Riyan Parag.

Joining elite company of Bhuvaneshwar, Arshdeep and Pandya

With this wicket, Mayank joined an exclusive club of Indian bowlers who have taken a wicket with the first ball of the innings. He became the fourth Indian to achieve this milestone, following in the footsteps of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya.

A role shift for Mayank

In his first two matches, Mayank was used as a middle overs enforcer. However, with Arshdeep Singh rested, Mayank was promoted to be the frontline pacer. Suryakumar Yadav showed confidence in the youngster.

Mayank, in the match, later added the wicket of Mahmudullah in what turned out to be the Bangladesh veteran’s final match for his country. Finishing with figures of 2-32 from his 4 overs, Mayank capped off an impressive debut series, taking 4 wickets in 3 matches at an economical rate.

Maintaining pace and accuracy

Though he wasn’t consistently hitting the extreme pace he showcased before his injury, Mayank remained a potent threat, regularly clocking in the mid-to-high 140s and maintaining his accuracy throughout the series. His performances suggest a bright future for the Delhi pacer.
