Will MS Dhoni play IPL 2025?
MS Dhoni was expected to retire from the IPL at the end of the 2024 season after having hinted about his swansong last year. Dhoni won the IPL 2023 title, leading the Super Kings. Dhoni stepped down as captain and handed over the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2024, but he remained tight-lipped about his future after the end of the season.
With new auction and retention rules released in September, there’s talk about Dhoni being allowed as an uncapped player. According to the new rules, a capped Indian player will become uncapped, if the player has not played in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant season is held. As a result, Dhoni can participate in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player for CSK.
