A record the hosts won’t be too proud of. They became the first team to lose a Test match after scoring after scoring 550+ in the first innings.
Pakistan was handed a humiliating 47-run loss with an innings by the visitors. The hosts batted first and amassed 556 runs. In reply, the mighty England unleashed their fury. Harry Brook and Joe Root hammered Pakistan to help them register 823/7 before declaring the innings.

The hosts then fell like nine pins in their second innings. Trailing by 267, Pakistan lost 6 wickets on Day 4. And the English bowlers needed just 4 wickets on Day 5 to take the Test match. Pakistan’s horrific form in Test cricket continues as the side goes on to lose their sixth consecutive Test match.
This was Shan Masood’s sixth Test match loss as the captain of his side. In fact, he became the first captain ever to lose six Test matches on a trot.

Pakistan last won a match on home soil way back in February of 2021. The Men in Green went on to beat the Proteas at Rawalpindi by a margin of 95 runs. 11 Test matches later, Pakistan is still without a Test match win at their home.
Pakistan was handsomely defeated by Australia, England, and New Zealand. The other month, Bangladesh toured Pakistan and humiliated the hosts by winning both the Test matches at Rawalpindi. And now against England, Shan Masood and Co were handed a humiliating loss by an innings and 47 runs.
Coming back to the Multan Test, Pakistan batted first and amassed 556 runs. Huge credits go to Abdullah Shafique (102), Shan Masood (151), and Agha Salman (104) for their triple tons. In reply, England unleashed their fury. Joe Root’s 262 and Harry Brook’s 317 coupled with Zac Crawley’s 78 and Ben Duckett’s 84 helped the Three Lions pile up 823/7 before declaring.
In reply, Pakistan was left battered and humiliated in the second innings. Agha Salman (63) and Aamer Jamal (55) tried to hold the fort but it went in vain. Jack Leach’s four-fer was enough to help his side etch out a memorable victory.
