IND vs AUS Test: India Cricket Team fans demand Virat Kohli set Border Gavaskar Trophy on fire as ace batsman returns to India

India Cricket Team‘s Test season has begun in full throttle. Rohit Sharma and Co has dispatched Bangladesh with relative ease and the next assignment is against the Kiwis. However, the most important is the India vs Bangladesh Test series. Ahead of the important series, fans demand Virat Kohli to set the Border Gavaskar Trophy on fire.

India takes on New Zealand for a three-match Test series starting from 16th October. After a short break in London, ace batter Virta Kohli returned to Mumbai the other day. It was during when fans demanded Virat Kohli set BGT on fire as India will travel to Australia later on this year.

When Virat Kohli was spotted entering his car, fans crowed him. The demands from the fans were quite simple. “BGT main aag lagani hain (You need to set the BGT on fire”. Kohli however couldn’t hear properly amidst the scuffle. He politely asked, “Kaha lagani hain aag? (Where do I need to set the fire?”. The fans were happy to echo again, claiming the ace batter needs to play well in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Virat Kohli has a strong record against the Aussies in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. In 25 Test matches so far, the former India captain has amassed 2,042 runs at a healthy average of 47.49. In fact away from home in Australia, Kohli boasts of having scored 1,352 from just 13 games with 6 centuries and four half-centuries to his name.

Virat Kohli played his first Test match in 2024 when he took on Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai. Though the veteran batter didn’t fare well, his quick firing knock in Kanpur helped the side set the pace and clinch a stunning victory in 2,5 days.

Up next, Kohli will take on the Black Caps. It will be a much-needed practice and game time for him before the actual challenge of the Border Gavaskar Trophy starts. After 3 matches against New Zealand, India will tour the Land of Down under for a 5-match Test series.

The IND vs AUS Test series is of utmost importance for both sides. Since India and Australia occupy the first and second spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, both will be keen to perform their best and make it to the finals.
