Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has so far maintained that they will continue to support their player. The sports adviser to the interim government Ashraf Mahmud had categorically stated that the government intended to honour the committment given to Shakib over providing the highest form of security. Bangladesh will take on South Africa in a two-match Test series that begins from October 19.

We will absolutely provide the highest level of security for our player. If there are any allegations against anyone, that is a different issue. I cannot comment on that, as it falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Law. However, we have already committed to ensuring Shakib Al Hasan’s security, and we will honour that commitment,” Ashraf added.
