Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Venues, Squads, Format & All you need to know

The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will commence on October 11. This will be the 90th edition of the domestic tournament.

The most prestigious domestic tournament in India, the Ranji Trophy, will begin on October 11, 2024, and will continue until March 2025. The tournament will feature Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and other star players.

Ranji Trophy format

Elite Category: This consists of 32 teams divided into four groups of eight. Each team competes against every other team in their group once. The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter-finals.

Plate Category: This includes six teams, with each team playing against all others once. The top four teams will qualify for the knockout stage of the plate group. This knockout stage features matches to determine the third and fourth positions, while the bottom two teams will compete for fifth and sixth places.

Ranji Trophy Live Streaming

Some select matches of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will be live streamed on JioCinema. Only a few group stage matches will be live telecast on Sports18.

Promotion and Relegation system

Promotion: The two finalists from the Plate group will earn promotion to the Elite category for the season.

Relegation: The bottom two teams across all Elite groups, determined by their points and quotient, will be relegated to the Plate category for the next season.

Plate Category

Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim.

When Ranji Trophy 2024-25 start

The tournament will begin from October 11 with final to be held on March 2, 2025.
