Indian cricket team T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, popularly known as SKY, is on the brink of achieving a major milestone before the second T20I against Bangladesh in New Delhi today (9th October). The Mumbaikar batter is set to equal Virat Kohli’s record of becoming the second-fastest batter globally to score 2500 runs in T20Is. Kohli achieved this feat in his 73rd match, while SKY has accumulated 2461 runs in just 72 matches. The batter would need 39 runs to score against Bangladesh in Delhi to equal Kohli’s record. Currently, Pakistan’s Babar Azam holds the world record, having reached 2500 runs in only 67 matches.

Victory in First T20I Fills SKY with Pride
After India’s dominant seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first T20I on Sunday, Suryakumar expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance. He lauded his men for “walking the talk” and executing the strategies discussed in the team meeting.
Arshdeep and Varun shine in first T20I
In the first match, bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were the stars, restricting Bangladesh to a modest total of 127 runs. Following their efforts, Sanju Samson (29), Suryakumar Yadav (29), and Hardik Pandya (39*), chased down the target in just 11.5 overs.

SKY is also excited about India’s long-term prospects, particularly the inclusion of Mayank Yadav, the fastest bowler in the country, and all-rounder Nitish Reddy. Both players are expected to play a significant role in future matches. “It’s a good headache to have when you have extra bowling options,” Suryakumar commented.
Though India won comfortably, Suryakumar acknowledged that there are still areas of improvement. He assured that the team would address these issues before the second T20I in Delhi on Wednesday. “You always learn something new from every game,” he added.
