Smriti Mandhana “frustrated” with dots vs PAK, says India yet to play their best in T20 World Cup

Women's T20 World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur's Team India is in fourth spot in the points table at the moment in Group A.

Team India has been poor so far in the Women’s T20 World Cup so far, it must be admitted. First, India lost to New Zealand by 58 runs, and in the second, against Pakistan, they barely managed to chase 106, when they needed to speed up, to get their NRR up.

But that obviously did not happen, as boundaries were hard to come by in the IND vs PAK match, and all batters including Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Shafali Varma struggled.

For the record, Shafali scored 32 at a strike rate of 91.43, Mandhana scored 7 at a strike rate of 43. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 23 at a strike rate of 82. The left-hander agreed to all the issues that persist with the Indian team, and said she was frustrated with the amount of dots India played.

In a press conference before the Women’s T20 World Cup clash against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, she said, “NRR is definitely there, we know. But the conditions were different as we thought in the last match. So, then our plan was to win the match first.”

“I personally became frustrated with some dot balls in that game. In the opening match, we did not play our best cricket whether it is bowling or batting. We are yet to play our best and the brand of cricket that we want to play.”
