Arundhati Reddy’s sendoff to Nida Dar invites trouble, “reprimanded” after T20 World Cup clash

Women's T20 World Cup: India won their first match of the tournament, as they beat Pakistan by six wicket on Sunday.

After impressing in the IND vs PAK clash at the Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday, India pacer Arundhati Reddy has been reprimanded by the ICC. Reddy breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident in question happened during the last over of Pakistan’s innings, where after dismissing Nida Dar, Arundhati gave her a rude sendoff. It must be noted that Arundhati’s 3/19 helped India pull off a victory in the IND vs PAK match, to register their first win of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

This offence attracted one demerit point, her first in the 24-month period. Meanwhile, on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Lauren Agenbag, third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Claire Polosak levelled the charge.
