As one of the more stable sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are going through their transition period, with seasoned players like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ajinkya Rahane making way for young talents like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. In the last edition, Dhoni handed the captaincy to Gaikwad; we expected the previous season to be his last, but Thala will play in IPL 2025. It will be interesting to see which players CSK retained in IPL 2024 and whom they will let go in the upcoming IPL 2025 auction.

Fans anticipated that Dhoni would captain CSK for IPL 2024 before the season began, leading to their retention decisions. In addition to the legendary captain, CSK retained Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ravindra Jadeja.
