But nonetheless, it is good news for the Kings franchise to lift a trophy for the very first time. The franchise came very close to lifting their maiden trophy in IPL 2014 when they topped the group stage but eventually lost the finals to KKR.
St Lucia Kings win CPL 2024
St Lucia Kings were tasked to chase down 139 by the Guyana Amazon Warriors. But things took a sharp turn for Faf du Plessis and Co. as the Kings suffered a top-order collapse. In fact, the team was reduced to 51/4 after 10 overs. Aaron Jones and Roston Chase played arguably the innings of their lives to help their side seal a scintillating victory in the finals of the Caribbean Premier League.
In the last 5 overs, St Lucia Kings needed 66 runs. But the destructive duo unleashed their carnage on the opposition. They went full throttle to bring up 27, 20, 18 runs in the next three consecutive overs.
And then with 11 deliveries to spare, a wide ball from Imran Tahir saw the Lucia Kings emerge victorious. Can this turn of tide help Punjab Kings lift their maiden IPL trophy in 2025? We will have to wait and see.
