All you need to know about superwoman Ellyse Perry

Here's everything you need to know about Australia's Ellyse Perry, a cricketer and soccer player.

Among male and female, Ellyse Perry is the youngest cricketer. She represents Australia in International cricket and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Indian Priemer League (IPL). She is one women cricketer to look forward to. Not just cricket, Perry is also a soccer player and not just a soccer player, she is one of the best soccer players. She has also played in soccer world cup and her performance has led her to get noticed. She is touted as one of the best athletes in Australia.

Ellyse Perry is the world’s top-ranked women’s all-rounder. She has various awards under her name such as being named as the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in both 2017 and 2019, winning the ICC Player of the Decade in 2020 and three-times winning Australia’s prestigious Women’s International Cricketer of the Year that is Belinda Clark Award in 2016, 2018 and 2020. 

Perry entered cricket at the mere age of 16 and ever since then she has been leaving everyone impressed with her game. Not just with cricket, she also made her soccer debut at the age of 16. She plays for Matildas in soccer team. In cricket, Perry’s bowling played an important role in Australia’s win in the 2010 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where she was named Player of the Match in the final.

Awards

In 2018, Ellyse Perry became the first Australian cricketer, male or female, to take 100 wickets in T20 International matches. In 2019, she was named Player of the Tournament for the WBBL 04 season and became the first Big Bash player to reach 2000 runs. In the same year, she was named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the second time.

Apart from cricket and soccer, Ellyse Perry has been declared Australia’s most marketable athlete. She has various brands to endorse including Adidas. Perry is also a writer and has published various books such as a four-book series to encourage girls to pursue their ambitions. In 2019, Ellyse released her first non-fiction book, titled Perspective, published by HarperCollins.

Perry is also in philanthropic work that includes the McGrath Foundation, Sporting Chance and the Learning for a Better World Trust.
