Asia Cup media rights to go under the hammer in November, ACC sets $170 million as base price

The media rights for the elaborate coverage of the Asia Cup tournaments from 2024-2031 will go under the hammer on November 1

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has set a base price of $170 million for the media rights to the Asia Cup. The auction, which is scheduled for November 1, will see the bidding being done for the rights to the elaborate media coverage of Men’s Asia Cup, Women’s Asia Cup, Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup, Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Women’s Under-19 Asia Cup, and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Asia Cup media rights to go under the hammer in November

The media rights will be sold to the highest bidder for a period of 8 years running from 2024 to 2031. The next edition of the Asia Cup will be held in India in 2025 (T20 format), followed by Bangladesh in 2027 (ODI format), Pakistan in 2029 (T20 format), and finally Sri Lanka, which will host the tournament in ODI format. The ACC has announced that the winner will be determined through an e-auction. The interested parties will have to submit their technical bids by October 30 in Dubai.

Recently, the ACC announced its plans to conduct the inaugural edition of the Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup in mid-December 2024, leading into the Under-19 T20 World Cup scheduled for Malaysia in January-February 2025. While the men’s Asia Cup is the tournament with the highest attraction, the women’s tourney is also picking up the pace in terms of popularity.
