India’s singles tennis star Sumit Nagal is all set to play among the top-rated stars in the world of tennis. Sumit Nagal has been added to the men’s player list of the World Tennis League (WTL) for its third season. The league will feature 16 players from around the world (including 8 men and 8 women). The tournament will take place at the renowned Etihad Arena from December 19 to 22, 2024.
The lineup includes two Olympic gold medallists, five Grand Slam champions, six of the top 12 male players, and six of the top 10 female players.
Men’s tennis stars return for action
On the men’s side, Daniil Medvedev (Men’s World No. 5) and Andrey Rublev (Men’s World No. 6), both members of the WTL 2023 title-winning team PBG Eagles, will be back. They will compete alongside 2024 US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz (Men’s World No. 7), Hubert Hurkacz (Men’s World No. 8), and Casper Ruud (Men’s World No. 9).
Exciting additions to the men’s roster
Other male stars set to return include Stefanos Tsitsipas (Men’s World No. 12), Sumit Nagal (Men’s World No. 83), and Australian sensation Nick Kyrgios.
New faces joining the League
Notably, 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejčíková (Women’s World No. 10) and Women’s Doubles Paris 2024 Gold Medalist Jasmine Paolini (Women’s World No. 5) will be making their debuts at the WTL.
Returning stars from the women’s circuit
Aryna Sabalenka (Women’s World No. 2), fresh from her recent US Open victory, will join World No. 1 Iga Świątek, who earned a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and clinched her third consecutive French Open title earlier this year. Other prominent female players include Mirra Andreeva (Women’s World No. 22), Elena Rybakina (Women’s World No. 4), Paula Badosa (Women’s World No. 19), and Caroline Garcia (Women’s World No. 36).
