Relay scoring system makes debut
This year, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) introduced a relay scoring system for the championships, requiring the winning team to reach 110 points across 10 matches to secure victory.
Despite a strong start with victories against Peru, Azerbaijan, and Mauritius in their earlier matches, India faced a rocky beginning against Turkiye. Tushar Suveer lost the first singles match to Mehmet Can Toremis with a score of 7-11, giving Turkiye the initial advantage.

N Srinidhi and U Reshika then took charge, propelling India ahead with a score of 22-18. The Indian team maintained their lead throughout the tie, even as Toremis applied pressure in the singles and doubles matches. However, India’s female players in both singles and doubles established significant leads in their matches, effectively neutralizing Toremis’s impact.
